Knock, Knock -

Ever since we moved into our house I’ve wanted to change the front door. Originally, it was part of the front landscaping project list, as was the front outdoor lights, however, for one reason or another we didn’t get to crossing it off our list at the time. So, we still have a basic builder door which I hate more as the days pass, especially in the summer when the garden is in full bloom. Everything looks so beautiful, especially our hydrangea tree, and then you get to our front door - ugly. This year, preferably before summer, I would like change it.

Today, after dropping off my 3 year old at daycare, I drove around the neighbourhood and started taking pictures of front doors. In the end, I ended up with 43 pictures however, for this post I’ll share a just a few that I like and some just to show variety in what people are doing. Also, here’s a few personal preferences I took away from the drive today; 1) I like the doors where the handle blends into the door and doesn’t stand out 2) I like a single – wide – door better than double 3) I like a solid door with opaque side panels best. Hmm, we shall see in the coming months which style we choose... here are some pictures from today. (I didn't crop any of them so you can see the overall feel from the road)

 

Just like I believe your home is an extension of who you are – we need not forget the exterior. Without preaching too much, I’ll just borrow a quote from NB... “love walking through your front door” – literally.
