Ah, Warmth & Sunshine {Love}

We've left the cold to enjoy the warmth and sunshine of Naples, Florida for a few days. There's not a cloud in the sky and the temperature is in the high 80's, it's just lovely. Here are just a few pictures from our first day at the beach - I had an opportunity to read while the boys built castles in the sand. Perfect.

We'll be hitting the stores at some point to do a little shopping. We've been coming to Florida every spring for years so, I certainly have my go-to stores like Target, DSW, Stein Mart, Marshalls, COACH, Z Gallerie (I know there's more!). If there's a store or resturant on your go-to list while visiting the US, I would love to hear about it. Talk soon!

Venetian Mirrors {Love}

I’ve loved venetian mirrors for years now and I think they work in just about any space. I especially love when they’re used in a modern space for that touch of the expected. Here’s a collection of venetian mirrors and spaces I love, starting with my absolute favorite from interior designer Jamie Herzlinger. Enjoy!Jamie Herzlinger

cobistyle by Cobi Ladner

This past Saturday I had the opportunity to meet Cobi Ladner, the former Editor of Canadian House & Home magazine. Cobi has recently launched her very own collection of furniture, drapery, fabric and home accessories called cobistyle. Two and a half years in the making, cobistyle is now available at inVU Drapery Co.

Cobi’s motivation for cobistyle came from her observation that neutrals have been trending in home interiors for far too long and she wanted to change that by bringing colour back. And, gorgeous colours they are… have a look!

Her collection of ready made drapery and coordinating cushions, exclusively made by inVu Drapery Co., are absolutely gorgeous. And here's the fun part - you can dress them up with a sash, in Fushia and Lime, just as you would a outfit. Fun idea, isn’t it?

Some other take a ways…

  • She loves the idea of east meets west so her collection feels traveled.
  • A room should have 5 hits of the same colour to make it feel pulled together.
  • Faux flowers are an quick and easy way to bring a pop of colour so, go for it!

I hope I’ve peeked your interest, so head over to cobistyle and have a look around at the collection or better yet, pop into an inVu Drapery store and see it for yourself. For more Cobi, join the clubcobi to get Cobi’s monthly newsletter or check out her blog here.

And, if the meet and greet wasn’t delightful enough, here’s the complimentary gift we received. Colourful chopsticks!!! I can’t wait to use them, perhaps Friday night can be sushi night now.

Let the Outdoors In

With the warmer weather slowing making its way to us in Toronto, I’m looking forward to the day we turn off the heat and open the windows. {before the air conditioning is needed} The perfect start to a spring day is when I can open the windows and let the freshness of the morning air into the house. To make that thought even more captivating, wouldn’t it be grand if we could let the outdoors in by not only opening the windows but by opening the wall altogether? Retractable glass walls or folding doors, brilliant idea! Here’s a round up of some truly amazing spaces… enjoy!

My Workspace Makeover

Back in February I shared a round up of workspace inspiration which was my springboard for redoing my workspace at the office. You can read more about me here. With some bargain hunting and imagination, my workspace makeover came in at just under $70. Now, each day I’m in the office, I smile at the happy, more homey space I created. I’m pleased with the results.

It all started with shopping my house for items I could use. The Ikea frame, artwork, Liberty of London picture frame and glass vase came from that adventure… conveniently, I love pink and blue together so I thought, why not? Here’s where the rest came from… the faux orchid, tray, oversized clothespin and magnetic board, HomeSense. Turquoise fabric for the magnetic board DIY project InVu Drapery. Lamp, Moveline Liquation's. Color match turquoise paint (for DIY lamp project) and white spray paint, The Home Depot. Custom ‘W’ for the pencil holder, Muse Custom Vinyls. There you have it, with some creativity and bargain hunting, I brought in some ‘pretty’ to my otherwise gray workspace… instantly happy!

Here’s more happy news - my sponsor, Lena from Muse Custom Vinyls is extending all Desire to Decorate readers a special 20% off on any orders placed between April 4th through 11th. Simply enter the code "decorate" and enjoy your 20% off!!! If you purchase anything, circle back here and let me know what you’re up to, I would love to know -
