Backyard Dreaming... today, it's an outdoor shower.

Over the weekend I quickly saw a post from Apartment Therapy via FB on outdoors showers and while I didn't have time to sit and read then, I immediately fell in love with the idea. So, today, I did a little surfing on the subject and I've come to the conclusion that we don't have a big enough backyard! You can read more about our backward dreaming herehere and here

Hmm, what am I willing to remove from my ever growing wishlist to accommodate an outdoor shower (& potty)... decisions, decisions. See we don't have a walkout basement to allow for a quick trip to the loo so the idea seems like one to explore further. Here's a roundup of my search today... delightful!

Hallway Drama

While I was pulling together this post a couple of weeks ago, I came across some lovely pictures of hallways worthy of showcasing again...

I love how these hallways have so much personality... some more dramatic than others but all have tons of charater. Notice the trend here? Lots of people love hallways to showcase an art gallery of personal family photos mainly, because you can appreciate them from close up. I love hallways that seem like they have a 'view' at the end, like these...

We pass through our hallways so many times, why not make it as beautiful as the rest of our house.

Happy Condo!

Kimberly Seldon... interior designer living in Toronto but native to California was asked to design what they're calling California Condo's in Etobicoke. I love the energy this space gives... the hit of turquoise and the fabulous stencils are so 'in' now, what single gal or guy wouldn't want this place to call their own. There's no way you could have a bad day in this space - love it! Congratulations Kimberly!!

New Sponsor - Terra, Stella & Dot Stylist!

I am thrilled to announce my first sponsor - Terra Shastri-Vizzini a Stella & Dot Stylist. I've loved the jewellery from Stella & Dot for a couple of years now... have you heard of it, seen it? Here, let me help...

InStyle Magazine - July 2010. The Bardot Flower featured in the July 2010 issue of InStyle Magazine

Real Simple Magazine - July 2010. The Goa Pendant Earrings featured in the July 2010 issue of Real Simple Magazine

Perhaps you've noticed a few jewellery pieces scrolling on my wish list for awhile now, well, they’ve been pieces I’ve been admiring from Stella & Dot. And, lucky me, last week, I was invited to a Stella & Dot trunk show hosted by a friend of mine and I was introduced to the lovely Terra. We got talking and just as I found blogging a creative outlet for me, Terra found the same in becoming a Stella & Dot stylist… and here we are – my first sponsor, it’s a beautiful thing!

Here are the pieces I treated myself with... love them, can't wait to get them this week!!!

Please take some time to visit her eboutique by going here. The pieces are lovely and Terra is lovely and I’m sure you’ll find something you’ll love, so go ahead and treat yourself! And, of course, if you’re in the Oakville, Burlington, Milton or Georgetown area, and would like to meet Terra, you're in luck... she’s going to throw in $50 in free jewellery for anyone who hosts a trunk show in July or August… isn’t that great? A ladies night of chit chat and trying on gorgeous jewellery, what could be better?... so much fun, it’s almost like being a little girl again.

Welcome Terra, we hope you'll stay awhile!

If you are interested in becoming a sponsor of Desire to Decorate, please email me at for details.

It's a place were all Ikea fans around the world share photo's of how they bring Ikea into thier homes... in many cases, Ikea not looking so Ikea. It's fascinating to see how people incorporate budget friendly Ikeas pieces into thier homes without sacrificing thier personal style... it's great! Really you need to take a look at these 'real' pictures from around the world...  Here's a sneak peek at what I'm talking about ~

Lovely Lighting

Up there with my love for well dressed console tables and pretty vignettes is my love for stunning chandeliers and pendants. To me chandeliers make such a dramatic statement - and I love that we're seeing them in more than just dining rooms these days. Deciding how high a chandelier should be hung really depends on the space... for helpful tips go here and here.

Here's a round up of chandeliers and pendants on my favorite list... clearly, I don't have enough spaces for all these lovely lighting options!

the serena... from Oly. Pictures from H& H, the PML home and I'm unsure aout the other, sorry!

the deco glam... from shades of light. Picture from Sarah Richardson Design

the modern classic (sandy chapman)... shades of light. Apparently I didn't tag this picture either, sorry!

the marigot... from circa lighting. Picture from Sytle at Home

the serena drum... from Oly. Pictures from H&H PML home, amandanesbitdesign and ??, sorry!
