Princess Margaret Welcome Home Sweepstakes Showhome

If you follow me on twitter you might remember I attended the Princess Margaret Welcome Home Sweepstakes Showhome Blogger event last week.

Designed by Lynda Reeves, of Canadian House and Home, and her fabulous team, this year’s showhome impresses again. Offering plenty of swoon worthy elements, this house brings together the best of rustic / modern / sleek / industrial decor and does it in a way that feels comfortable.

Some of my favourite elements…

  • the sleek industrial door leading into the family room {which echoes all the exteriors doors}
  • the huge kitchen offering seating, television watching and still room to build a train track {or two!} on the floor
  • the three walls of windows in the kitchen floods the room with light – fabulous!
  • the full length window in the main hall is fabulous {just as it was in the 2009 showhome}
  • all the rustic ‘real-wood’ touches that balance all the metal {the floating shelves and the mini painters bench in the family room are favourites}
  • every bathroom is beautiful {all six of them!}
  • the L-shaped house architecture is a nice change from the common square/rectangular box
  • the landscaping in the front and back {the L-shape allowed for a nice courtyard feel in the backyard, great for summer get-togethers!}

Enough to get you contributing to a good cause?
You can do it visiting the official Help Conquer Cancer website
here or by visiting the House and Home Princess Margaret Welcome Home Sweepstakes Showhome website here.

Impressive, right? If you’re in the Oakville swing by the house at 220 Pinehurst Drive and check it out for your self! More importantly, remember to order your tickets for the sweepstakes. Last year they sold out early. For more photos check out the Canadian House and Home website or tour the home in via the Online TV segments and, of course, grab a copy of the October 2012 issue. Plus, get more up close and personal pictures from the other fabulous design bloggers in attendance, all their posts will be available via the showhome buzz page.

Thank you for inviting me out to the blogger event Seema!

Thanks so much for coming out, Wendy! We really appreciate it and love meeting bloggers in person. So interesting to see which elements stood out the most to each person who came out.
What a cool house. I love that horse print! I wish I lived closer! I'd be there in a heart beat!

such a great post wendy! i can't believe I missed meeting you in person. I seriously need to get better at 'working the room' and saying hello!
I loved your list of what you liked at the showhome. You took a fantastic photo of the front hall looking toward the stairs - it really captured the openness and light feeling you got when you were there.
So great seeing you last week Wendy - next time hopefully, we will get a chance to chat. Love your photo collages - what program did you use?
