6 Tips for Creating a Spa-Like Bathroom

Every woman needs a space to rejuvenate. For some, it may be the spa or a special yoga room, however in today’s hectic world, so many resolve to create their own spa right at home.

6 Tips for Creating a Spa Like Bathroom via Desire to Decorate

The master bath could be the ultimate place to unwind and renew. If you want to transform your bathroom into your own private sanctuary, here are 6 tips for creating a spa-like bathroom of your very own…

1. Select a Style

Determine what decor style you want the bathroom to reflect, whether it's sleek and modern, shabby chic or classic and traditional. For guidance, think about your favourite hotel suites. Do you dream of the weekend you spent at the Encore Las Vegas or the Ritz Paris? Find pictures of your favourite hotel bathrooms online and other bathrooms that you love and create a board on Pinterest to keep track of all the details that you want to include.

2. Pick the Perfect Palette

Choose two to four colours that you find soothing and relaxing. For a modern look, steel gray, silver, white and turquoise are a calming combination. For something more traditional, rose, cream and gold are a luxe combination.

3. Light It Right

Lighting is everything. The key to creating a lighting scheme that is relaxing is to have various  lighting fixtures throughout the room and installing dimmer switches for all of them. For added glamour, hang a chandelier over the bathtub. Be sure to include plenty of vanity lighting around the mirrors for beauty treatments and makeup application.

4. Find Fantastic Fixtures

The most important fixture in any bathroom retreat is the bathtub. Explore the products via Masco, they have a variety of options to fulfill any design style. Opt for an oversized Japanese soaking tub or a classic freestanding claw-foot tub, instead of a whirlpool tub, which can make the bathroom look dated. If you'll be sharing the bathroom with your spouse, be sure to get double sinks in the vanity. That way, you each have your own space to keep your things and you won't get in one another's way when getting ready in the morning.

5. Decide on Decadent Details

Thoughtful details such as fresh flowers, framed photos, ornate mirrors and monogrammed hand towels add a personalized touch to decor that can make a room even more fabulous to relax in. Get plush rugs for near the bathtub and the sinks to keep your feet warm on cold mornings. If you can afford to splurge, replace your old flooring with heated flooring. You’ll be surprised at how many dream features could be a reality in your space. A steam shower is also a necessary indulgence for an extra luxurious bathroom. If you have the space, install a fireplace near the bathtub for warmth and ambiance.

6. Go All-in With Accessories

Strategically place unscented white candles throughout the bathroom. Unscented ones are best unless you don't mind being overpowered by a variety of scents during a relaxing candlelit bath. Stock up on bath salts from Molton Brown and oils and washes from Jo Malone which have such pretty packaging they double as decor.
