The Hudson's Bay Point Blanket

When the December issue of Canadian House & Home landed on my desk a couple of weeks ago, I was immediately intrigued by Hudson's Bay Company mini Heritage Catalogue found within. If you haven’t seen it yet, pop over here to have a peek.

hudsons bay collection

Every Holiday season I think about purchasing the iconic Hudson’s Bay point blanket and this year is no different. If I had a cottage I would have likely already purchased one however, since there’s no cottage, there’s still no blanket.

It seems so fitting to have this Classic Canadiana blanket in our home, almost fits within the heirloom category, don’t you think? I love the classic multi stripe point blanket however, the Millennium point blanket is also a favourite. In any case, here’s a collection of images with the classic Point Blanket within… enjoy!

Millwork {Love it!}

Lately I’m coveting great millwork. I know, I’ve said it once or twice but recently, it’s on mind more than I would like to admit.

I think it adds a level of detail and dimension to a space that's like no other. Full wall panelling, half wall panelling, wide baseboards and embellished door trims – I can’t get enough of it. I especially love more box-like design vs. an intricate design. Here’s a little peek at what I’m day dreaming about these days… enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving to my friends in the US. Enjoy your day!

Zebrawood {Love it!}

Today I’m dreaming about Zebrawood. I’m drawn to the richness and character of the wood and feel as though it adds a sense of depth to drama to the space. A little on the masculine side, but gorgeous none the less.

Jamie Herzlinger’s recent feature in Lonny Magazine reminded me of how much I love this exotic wood. I’ve found some images I had saved and collected some new one’s for this round up… enjoy!

Balsam Hill Christmas Tree Co. {Giveaway}

Arriving on my doorstep last week - a 7.5’ Balsam Fir artificial tree from Balsam Hill Christmas Tree Co. Thank you Meredith Bradford! Every year we do a real Balsam Fir Christmas tree, so I was curious at how this artificial tree was going to measure up. Needless to say, it’s up and WOW!

This isn’t your ordinary artificial Christmas tree, the realism and quality is incredible. The true green colour and the natural-looking fall of the braches is remarkable. I also love that this artificial evergreen is pre-lit, has a foot-pedal for the on/off switch and comes with its own storage bags. Balsam Hill has really thought of everything, and I’m guessing this artificial Christmas tree will last years and years. The Santa Claus parade is next weekend, so I’ll get to finishing up decorating for the holidays in the coming weeks.

There’s more. Meredith would like to giveaway a wreath and garland to all Desire to Decorate readers. How awesome is that? I’m excited for you.

Waterfall Countertops

There’s something about waterfall countertops that captures my attention. Perhaps it’s is simple and straight lined wrap around, reminding me of a parsons style console table, that I like. Whatever the case, trendy or not, I like it. Here’s a few interiors I’ve collected… enjoy!

I especially like 2nd photo, the waterfall countertop with hardwood flooring - I think the hardwood helps warms up the space. What do you think, do you like?
